The star has given the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to preserve the UK's small music venues.

The star was awarded the prize on 16 October as his new release his work was declared the best record of the last 12 months.

He has opted to donate the funds to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports independent venues.

Fender also joined in, generating over £100k on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation helped spaces that were dealing with imminent closure due to difficulties caused by flooding, fires and personal losses, as well as permit problems, conflicts and noise complaints.

Some locations obtained monetary aid in modernizing facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The concept that funds from shows in large arenas helps the independent spots, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his honor funds to good deeds.

When they won the award in the mid-90s for their release their work, frontman Cocker declared that the band would give their winnings to the charity War Child.

During 2002, artist she split her prize between multiple charities, such as the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with outlets.

In recent years, they gave their prize money to the community center that supported their group, alongside other independent music bodies.

Also winners that year M People donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," stated artist Small. "The money was the bonus but we didn't require the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the MVT announced it had protected several small stages in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in that area and The Croft in the city were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is backed by a national body and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
