Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located multiple other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
An important representative commented the incident rendered him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
